Measurement Software Toolkit

The Measurement Software Toolkit is a collection software tools designed to assist with the calculation of measurement uncertainty.

Various libraries and other software tools are available that implement a proprietary GUM Tree method (compatible with the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement). These include a stand-alone programmable uncertainty calculator, several add-ins for Microsoft Excel and a library for uncertainty calculation written in R.

A topic of particular interest is the calculation of uncertainty for complex-valued quantities. This is important in a number of areas, including AC electrical and RF and microwave measurements. The software provided here implements extensions of the standard real-valued methods that handle complex-valued problems.

There are also spreadsheet checking and validation tools. An Excel add-in has been designed for spreadsheet and worksheet function testing using assertions.

Measurement Uncertainty Notes

A short set of notes about measurement uncertainty is available here.

The notes have been written with RF and microwave measurements in mind. They cover both the measurement uncertainty of real and complex-valued quantities
